Watch a harrowing clip from the Off-Broadway production of Confessions of a Mormon Boy.
Above you have hopefully found a thumb-nail sketch of the solo plays, shows, cabarets, and stand up of Steven Fales--brief information about work past, present and future, and where Steven has performed before. Here are a few more fun facts about Steven's solo work:
The companion book to the stage play Confessions of a Mormon Boy: Behind the Scenes of the Off-Broadway Hit is a Lambda Literary Award Finalist and includes the unabridged script, essays, exhibits, etc. It was originally published by Alyson Books but is now out of print. Used copies (and a few new) are available on Amazon.
The album Confessions of a Mormon Boy: Live from London received 5-stars from BroadwayWorld.com and is available to download on Amazon, iTunes, and CDBaby.com.
Confessions of a Mormon Boy was professionally filmed live with multiple cameras off Broadway, in L.A., and in runs across the country including Bay Street Theatre, Pride Plays and Films, and other runs for the documentary film Mormon Boy currently in pre-production.
High school students have won awards in state and national drama and speech competitions all over the country doing excerpts from Confessions of a Mormon Boy.
Though licensing is not formally available, permission was granted for a college student to perform the play at
Crafton Hills College in Southern California.
The play has been translated into Portuguese and is currently being translated into Spanish.
May we be so bold as to say that Confessions of a Mormon Boy is one of the most successful self-produced non-celebrity-driven autobiographical solo plays of its generation. Confessions alone has grossed over $1M at the small theatre box office.
Confessions has been a wind-fall, cash cow that has kept many small theatres from closing or has launched entire new eras of success.
Confessions has been used to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless complimentary tickets for charity.
The solo work of Steven Fales is the most comprehensive and three-dimensional exploration of Mormon Americana ever seen onstage.
Confessions and Mormon Boy Trilogy are being expanded into a series of books called Oxy-Mormon Memoirs.
Steven did not start writing until after his excommunication, but he has been disowned by many family members because of his work.
